Vacation Day

A snapshot of a typical vacation day, August 2006

And so they sat, silent but for the sounds of play.
Napping, reading and writing the minutes away.

The children’s gibberish most welcome to his ear.
No screams of brutality or need to chastise,
Such a nice change of pace for the boys.

The laughter now most assured of good humor;
The fake sneezes louder and more violent,
As is the wont of one so tickled by their action . . .
